Fantastic win again this weekend making it 4 in a row. Another good bowling and fielding performance restricted the opposition to 131 for 8 in the rain reduced 39 over game. Stu 2-19 and Risky 2-22 with good opening bursts, with Shepherd and Barry taking 2 each as well. Better not discount the wiley old campaigner Andy who bowled economically without much luck! Wardle with 3 good catches and Shrew added another 2 good slip catches (a new DVD contract is reportedly being discussed). Small targets are often hard to chase but we managed to make it a massive target falling to 11 for 4 in the opening half dozen overs. This was mainly due to a good opening burst from there opening bowlers. Enter Mr Wardle who joined forces with the big man Risky. Some great battle and concentration began to quieten the opposition down, before Risky really got his eye in! 8 fours and a massive 7 sixes later they had put on 125 for the 5th wicket and won us the game! Risky displayed a magnificient knock of clean striking, most noticebly straight over the bowlers head and out the ground! Great play mate, keep up the good form. Cannot take anything away from Mr TC, who was like a rock at the other end nurdling around singles and ably supporting Risky, just proving how important partnerships are. Anyway week off next week lads but lets not take the foot of the gas and continue our quest towards the top of the table!!!

First defeat follows the first win...

After the great success of the first match, the Sharks came crashing back down to earth after loosing to London Welsh at home last Sunday. After putting them into bat, the Sharks had them at 58 for 4 and looked in control, until a huge partnership left London Welsh finishing on 266 for 6 off of 45 overs. Shep and Risky both picked up 3 wickets each with some great individual catches from the rest of the team. Risky continued his current form with the bat scoring 62, however the Sharks ended up 90 runs short on 176 all out off of 44.1 overs. Let's hope they return to winning ways this weekend!

Hersham Sharks record first win!
|
|
A great start for the new team! In our first match as a new Saturday league club we travelled to Cheam on a very wet and windy day (and for once the wind wasn't coming from one of the Marshall brothers!). After the rain reduced the game to 40 overs and with us being put into bat, we recorded a staggering 319 runs for just 2 wickets (Shep scoring 50 and Risky and Marshall an unbeaten 237 partnership).
Shrew and Shep (who obviously hadn't finished for the day) both went on to take 4 wickets each as the Sharks dismissed Cheam for 136 in 31.2 overs with some excellent displays of fielding during the innings.
Check out the new "Statistics & Averages" section on the left hand menu for more details!
